Preparing Your Pinterest Account for the Busy 4th Quarter: Tips to Optimize and Refresh Your Pinterest Account

Introduction

As we settle into summer here in the US, we are also thinking about how to prepare our clients’ accounts for the busy 4th quarter on Pinterest. Now is the time to make any adjustments, plan content, and set your Pinterest account up for a successful busy fall.

Did you know that holiday searches start in late summer? The images below show us the search volume for the terms “holiday decor ideas” and “holiday gift ideas”. Look at how searches start to increase in August and then peak at the end of November/early December. What does that mean for businesses? It means we need to be ready, optimized, and have our pins posted in time to show up during this time.

With the 4th quarter just around the corner, now is the perfect time to update and optimize your Pinterest account so you can capitalize on the upcoming seasonal trends. In this blog post, we'll explore tips and strategies to help you prepare for a successful end-of-year surge. From refreshing your Pinterest account to creating captivating seasonal-themed content and optimizing your online marketing efforts, we've got you covered!

Fresh Keyword Research for SEO Optimization

Keywords and SEO (search engine optimization) are extremely important to your success when using Pinterest Marketing for your business. Remember, Pinterest is a visual search and discovery platform (i.e. a search engine) so those keywords are an integral part of being found in search. It’s important to refresh your keyword list and double-check that you are using the latest best keywords for your business on a regular basis. I suggest doing some fresh keyword research as you prep for Fall. Be sure your boards are up to date, and that you are using keywords in the board names and descriptions. And, as you create pins, use the most relevant current keywords for your content. For more information about keywords, CLICK to read this blog.

Refresh Your Pinterest Account

The first step in preparing for the 4th quarter is to give your Pinterest account a much-needed update. Here are some tips to refresh and revitalize your profile:

  • Update your profile picture and description: Make sure your profile picture and background reflect your brand's identity, and update your profile description to include your keywords and any products or services you want to showcase.

  • Review and optimize your boards: Take a close look at your existing boards and make sure they are relevant to your target audience and aligned with the upcoming season. If it makes sense for your brand, create new boards that resonate with the fall and holiday seasons.

  • Check your settings. Have you claimed your website, have you turned off shopping recommendations on your pins (CLICK HERE to learn more about how), does your profile name and description include your keywords?

  • Change your board settings to custom and move any seasonally relevant boards to the top (more below).

Create Seasonal Themed Boards

Capturing the spirit of the season with themed boards is a fantastic way to engage your audience and showcase your products or services for the season. Here are some seasonal board ideas for different niches.:

  • Fall Fashion Favorites: Curate a collection of cozy sweaters, stylish boots, and trendy accessories that reflect the latest autumn fashion trends. Add detailed descriptions and links to your online store, making it easy for users to shop directly from your pins.

  • Festive Home Decor: Inspire pinners with creative ideas for decorating their homes during the fall and upcoming holidays. Share DIY projects, unique centerpieces, and cozy decor items that align with the season.

  • Holiday Gift Guides: Prepare for the gift-giving season by creating curated gift guides featuring unique and thoughtful gift ideas. Categorize them based on recipients, such as "Gifts for Her," "Gifts for Him," or "Gifts for Kids," to help pinners find the perfect presents.

Create Seasonal Content

My number one advice on this one is to start early. As I have said, seasonal searches start at the end of the summer. So, start thinking now about the content you want to create for Fall and the holidays. Get those posts up and start pinning. If it feels too early to promote this content on other platforms, that’s fine, save it for later for them. But start pinning on Pinterest sooner so your pins are indexed and ready for those searches.

Optimize your Online Selling Efforts

With the busy fall shopping season in full swing, it's crucial to optimize your online selling strategies. Here are some tips to help you stand out and boost sales:

  • Create Optimized Product Pins: These pins provide additional details and information about your products, making them more appealing to potential buyers. Implement Rich Pins for your shop website, ensuring that the pricing, availability, and other relevant information are automatically updated.

  • Create Round-Ups or Collection Pins to feature products grouped together. Send searchers to a category on your shop where they can browse everything you have to offer.

  • Tag products on pins. Be sure to add tags to any product-relevant pins. CLICK HERE to read more about how to add tags and affiliate links to your pins. Tagging makes your pin easily shoppable.

Ads on Pinterest

Ads are a great way to expand your reach and increase traffic and sales on your website. If ads are something you are considering for 4th quarter, start planning early. Ads on Pinterest are a great lower-cost option and we love their evergreen nature. But, they do take a little time to optimize so don’t wait to the last minute to start.

Conclusion

As we enter the busy 4th quarter, it's essential to optimize your Pinterest account, create themed boards, and implement effective online marketing strategies. By refreshing your profile, curating seasonal boards, and maximizing your selling potential, you'll be well-prepared to capture the attention of pinners and drive sales. So, roll up your sleeves, get creative, and make this fall season your most successful one yet on Pinterest!

Remember, the key to success lies in staying proactive and consistently pinning. By putting these tips into action, you'll set yourself up for a great 4th quarter.

Happy pinning!
