What Is the Pinterest Verified Merchant Program?

Welcome to Part 1 of our blog mini-series about Pinterest’s Verified Merchant Program. In this blog, we are going to discuss WHAT the Verified Merchant Program is as well as a bit about why I believe e-Commerce brands should apply to be part of the Program.

If you are an e-commerce brand selling products online and are interested in selling those products using Pinterest Marketing, then the Pinterest Verified Merchant Program is perfect for your brand. Pinterest rolled out The Verified Merchant Program in 2020 as more and more people started shopping online and searching for information and products on Pinterest.

As Pinterest has made updates over the past few years, many of those changes have involved adding tools for Online Shops (one of which is the Verified Merchant Program). Merchants have the ability to tag products on pins and have access to better conversion insights. Pinterest is also adding more shopping and selling features all the time. These are all in place to help e-commerce shops use Pinterest Marketing to sell more in their online shops!

So, What is the Verified Merchant Program?

It is a free program for online shops from Pinterest. After ensuring they meet Pinterest’s Merchant Guidelines, online shops apply, are reviewed by Pinterest, and will be included in the program if they meet certain specific criteria. Note: It is very important that you review Pinterest’s Merchant Guidelines. They are required for approval to the program (think, great photos on your website, a positive user experience, a clear shipping policy, and return policy).

Pinterest’s intent is to help shoppers find and buy from trusted shops. Once accepted into the program, shops will receive a blue verified merchant check on their home page. The idea is to give shoppers confidence that they are shopping with a trusted brand. And having this extra support from Pinterest not only elevates your brand but helps with the distribution of your products on Pinterest.

Meet More Shoppers on Pinterest

Pinterest shoppers come to Pinterest with intent. They are actively searching for a solution to a problem, an answer to a question, and products to buy. When these shoppers search, they are usually not searching for a specific brand. Instead, they are looking for a brand that inspires them and a brand that they can TRUST.

The Verified Merchant Program gives shoppers an extra layer of comfort that a brand can be trusted because as an approved brand, the shop has been reviewed and vetted by Pinterest.
